Back to School Product Premiere Linky
I am joining a bunch of great teachers to showcase a favorite item from their Teachers Pay Teachers store. I chose to share with you a literacy center called Top Ten Lists. It is a favorite of mine because it is so versatile, easy to differentiate, and most importantly, I LOVE to see what my creative kiddos come up with.
Here is a checklist for the teacher to keep track of the lists used during the school year.
There are 160 more category pages of top 10 lists. The categories range from favorite food, to things at the zoo, to words with double letters, etc. The students are SO creative filling these out. It is amazing to see what they come up with.
I like to do a share of a few top 10 lists that students have completed. My students love to hear what their classmates came up with. They too are amazed at what was listed, and why they didn't think of that word!
Students can keep their top 10 lists organized in a book format with this cover. Keeping them in a 3-prong folder is easy! Just have the students add their new one each week.
These are just a few of the recording sheets. There are several for differentiation. It is great because all students feel included by doing the same center, but they don't all have to know that the work they do is different. Another recording sheet not shown is ABC order.
Thanks for checking out one of my favorite literacy centers! You can get more information about it here.

Moving...Again... T-4 Days
A few years ago I moved across the country from the lovely state of Florida. In four days, back I go, and I'm so excited to wear sandals year round again! I used to say that it is nearly impossible to get an elementary teaching job in Massachusetts. Unfortunately, I have come to the conclusion that it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE. Lots of bad luck and a few years later, and I still am not in the position I want. School starts in Florida in a month, and times ticking...quick. *Fingers-crossed* that I will get a K-2 teaching position within a few weeks. I finally got smart for this move and hired a mover. Being on the third floor of my apartment with no air conditioning, moving would be miserable. And that is an understatement! The movers will first move everything from my apartment. Next they will move to this...
Here is my storage unit of teaching materials. From this picture, it is hard to tell home much stuff is actually in there. It's a 5x10 unit, with five feet packed full to the ceiling. All this stuff will soon find a temporary home in a new storage unit. And then I will have to do it all over again, but with a smile of course, as I move to my future classroom.
Tomorrow I'm taking a day off from packing because it is supposed to be 95 degrees. Too hot to get anything done! Sunday I hope to have two hours max left packing and cleaning. Bright and early Monday morning the movers come. What a whirlwind! Two weeks ago I made the decision to move and its coming fast. I'm so stressed that I can't sleep (which is the worst). I can't wait until next week when I can relax and put my feet up! Sunshine State here I come :)

Whack! & 2 Freebies
How cute are these four whack-a-gopher games?! Each game uses all 220 Dolch sight words. They are sold individually or together in a bundle. If I were a kid I would think they look like fun :). Do they even have the whack-a-mole games at arcades anymore? I have no idea -it has been a while!

Sight Word Love
I love love love making learning sight words fun! One, because there are so many engaging ways to incorporate them into daily instruction. Two, because sight word automaticity is interconnected with fluency and comprehension. This summer I will be working on making lots of fun sight word games, activities, and other classroom helpers using Dolch sight words. I am very curious - what do you call sight words in your class? In the past I have called them sight words and popcorn words. Please share!

Slant Poster Freebie
One and a half more weeks of school. Woohoo!
I decided to make this Slant Poster because I couldn't find any colorful ones out there. You can print this poster in two different sizes. It is ready to go at 8.5x11. Or, you can piece together 9 pages to make a larger sized poster. Question - do you think this is too big? I can make it smaller to be 4 pages instead. I figured that once the edges are trimmed and the pages overlap some, it will cut the size down some. Another new[freebie] poster is in the works.. check back soon!

Deal of the Day
I went to Staples to get new headphones, and left with this great deal. There was a stack of number lines in the clearance section for $2.50! You might get lucky and find one at a nearby Staples. Maybe Carson-Dellosa is coming out with a new one this summer?
